I have been to several Cinco, or some other Spanish number, De Mayo parties. Two years ago was the best one that I had been too. Of course because it was the day that Dana, my wife, and I got married. It was a great day for both of us. It was a day that went pretty smoothly, I feel because of the friends that we had and still have around us. We have gained new friends since then and the thought of "there would be a whole lot more people invited to the wedding comes to mind" because of those friendships.

Anyway, getting back to today. Today is going to be a busy day. I am at home working on a drawing for a project that I need to submit a quote for soon and then I am going to practice at Visio for this weeks music and then I am going to rush home so that Dana and I can go out for at least one drink tonight since we live downtown.

I look back on the past year and I would say that it has been better than the first year. We still get into little spats but the major arguments that we had in the first year did not happen this past year. Towards the end of year two, I think we made tremendous strides in our communication.

We have had some ups and downs, two major downs being 1)not getting the house that we wanted and 2)being I lost my job for no reason. However through the year we have made it. We feel like we did not get the house cause The Lord knew that I was going to lose my job soon. I lost my job cause I feel like The Lord wanted me to free up some time for me to pursue two dreams of mine, music and a business.

I feel like our lives are not at the point where I would like to be going into the third year of marriage and me being 13 days from turning 30, but I feel like we are on the same page with each other and we are working towards a common goal.

I LOVE YOU DANA AND I HOPE FOR MANY MANY MORE YEARS WITH YOU

Silver in Charlotte

Tomorrow Silver will be in Charlotte again. This time to play a show but it is a Battle of the Bands. It is for a Charlotte radio station, www.1065.com "The End." We are currently in the semifinals of this competition. The first stage of the competition was an online voting, in which obviously we won to progress to the next round.

So, we are playing tomorrow at Wilds Wings (UNCC) as they call it. We are going up against a really good group and what looks to be a really good solo act. We are needing people there. I do not know if anyone really reads this blog that often, but if you do and happen to be in Charlotte tomorrow. Come out to Wild Wings, we will be there rocking it out and trying to make it to the finals. We are needing a lot of people there because some of the judging is based on crowd participation. So, if you read this blog sometime tomorrow and know of anyone in Charlotte, please please tell them to come out to Wild Wings UNCC.

www.silvermusiconline.com

Connected Sentiments

So, tonight Dana and I arrived home from the beach. It was a needed time for her, and I was glad to "tag along." We have both had really up and down weeks with our jobs, friends, emotions and thoughts. We are on a high at one moment and then at the next we are back down again.

I always heard growing up that being an adult, two things happen in your life. It is always a roller coaster and everyday goes by faster than the one before. There are always more and more things to do, no matter how much you accomplish the day before. I even heard my older cousin today say, "I think that people are saying that they can multi-task to cover up the fact that all of us are getting adult ADD." That is not to be a joke either. We all fill our lives with soo much stuff and things to do because we are afraid to focus on one thing for too long. I guess we are afraid that we may miss something if we focus on one thing, so we try and focus on everything.

So, thinking about all of this I thought I was right about a good close friend of mine. I have written one of these types of posts before. Talking about someone, someone that a lot of you reading my blog will know, but never mentioning who it is. I think this allows me to really get into what I am thinking about and let that person know that I care for them. I am a man so I have to have ways of covering up my emotions for a certain situation so that I can still be a "strong man."

Anyway, I came home tonight. Got the car unloaded. Went and checked the mail. Then sat down in front of the computer to check on some things; Silver, work, & friends. So I was checking my twitter people that I follow and I came across a statement, "is wondering why?" This statement pushed me to read the attached blog to this statement. After reading this blog I was reminded of an event that tore my heart apart over two years ago. You see two years ago this past Christmas, my sister-in-law was pregnant with her and my brother's first child. She was in her sixth month and she felt like something was not right. She went to the hospital only to find out that the baby, Taylor as they had named him, had no life. She, and all of us proceeded to wait the next four or five days for the doctors to deliver the baby for her. This was not a very good time for our family. Sitting at the hospital waiting for something that was not going to give us joy, not going to bring the family closer together, not going to be what it was supposed to be.

The time came and Taylor was delivered and what I thought was going to be hard, was unimaginably hard. I have tattoos, I have felt a lot of pain, I have been depressed for a bit, I have asked God why, but nothing compared to this instance and the days that followed. A few days after Taylor was "born" we laid him to rest at a private funeral, with a private burial, in a coffin no bigger than the coolers we take to football games in the fall. Up until that moment that they were about to put him in the ground I had held up strong on the outside while ripping apart on the inside. Up until that moment my dad had been the same way. Up until that moment my brother, my dad and I had been an "Enzor" man: strong willed, determined, able to handle any situation that was thrown at us. Then when the funeral director and his assistant pulled the little box out of the hearse and placed it on the ground, I was torn apart. I felt like my heart had been ripped in two. Thanks to the grace of God everything that I stated that we were waiting for did happen. This situation gave us joy in the end, as Dana saw that I was not unemotional (this was a really good thing for me.) Also, the rest of the family found joy in one another. In that joy and determination it brought us all closer together. While it was not what it was supposed to be, it lead way for what is today: My nephew. Because of the research and knowledge gained about my sister-in-law, my nephew Brayden was able to be born healthy over four months ago.

Reaching back to the reason, blog, why I started writing this one tonight. There has already been some great things to come out of this situation. Ethan was able to give back to the research and medical community. Everyday he gets stronger, every one's big strong brick walls between each other get a little weaker cause we know that there are a lot of things that are worth a whole lot more than our own lives. Our friendships and a desire to need one another and become that village based mentality we are striving to become, gets a little more closer at hand. Finally the love that we have not only for our own families, but our friends around us, grows stronger.

I will end with this. I never knew that riding the roller coaster of life you could be on a low and high point at the same time. That the good and the bad could exist at the same time. Finally, that the good will teach you much, but the bad will teach your more.

Silver in Charlotte

This past Saturday Silver played at The Evening Muse.

We had played there before and really enjoyed the small venue feel. So, when we started communication lines with them and they asked us if we wanted to have our CD Release Show on a Saturday night. We jumped at the opportunity.

So, this past Saturday Brent and Jessie left for Charlotte. Then Dana and I left for Charlotte. Patrick was already in Charlotte having played with a friend of ours on Friday. We all got there about mid afternoon. After some hanging and driving around, Dana and I decided to stop for some dinner close to the venue and happened to run into Brent, Jessie and his parents. We at a place called "Revolution." It is a pizza joint on the corner of Davidson and 36th. It was a really good pizza.

After dinner we hang out for a while, as people started to show up that knew Brent and Patrick.

Once we got into The Evening Muse to set up and play, it was packed. We had "The Starboarders" out of Knoxville open up for us. They did a great job. They finished up and we got loaded on stage and ran through a sound check. There were a lot of old friends of Patrick's and Brent's, since they both grew up in Charlotte. At about 11:30, the sound guy introduced us and we started playing. I will have to say right before we started I was getting a little nervous. As soon as the first note was hit, the nervousness went away.

We proceeded to play our set and had a great response from the people who were there. We really enjoyed ourselves and Dana and I really enjoyed meeting a lot of Patrick's and Brent's old friends and family.

So, overall the trip to Charlotte was a great trip, and I realized several things. I really enjoy traveling with my wife, wish we could travel more. I really enjoy playing music with Patrick and Brent and hope that there are many more shows that we are able to play together. Patrick and Brent have great families and they have taken Dana and I in like they have known us for years. Finally, it is good to have good friends and great families that support us in our desires in music.

Pour House Show

This post is for those who do not keep up with the Silver Music Online blog as much as mine.

The Pour House Show Saturday night was awesome. There were some issues with getting everything rolling but we were only 10 minutes behind schedule. We had Runaway Cab open up the show for us and they did a good job. They got everyone moving and grooving.

We took the stage about 11pm. We three were excited about finally getting to play the show that we had been promoting and preparing for the last month. We really worked hard on both fronts and I am really positive with the turnout before the show and also with the positive comments after the show.

We played everything from our new CD "+/-" and we also played some oldies but goodies. We really enjoyed playing the show at The Pour House. Now we get ready for the show in Charlotte at The Evening Muse on March 7th. We are going to be working just as hard with promotion and practicing for that one as well. So, everyone that doesn't have anything to do on March 7th, take a trip down to Charlotte and come and have some fun with us.

Thanks again for everyone that came out Saturday night and also thanks to everyone who bought a CD. You can buy a CD from our website HERE.

On another personal note. Most of you know that I and a friend started a General Contracting Company a couple of months back. I am currently in the process finallizing our first GC job and I am also currently in the process of developing a logo and a website with Brent Francese. www.myspace.com/silvermusiconline.

So, today we are commencing a total bombardment, maybe a harsh word only meant to mean serious, of our friends, families and anyone connected with us. This is a big deal for us, cause we have worked hard, the engineers have worked hard and now we are going to work even harder.

We are going to unleash this CD on everyone and anyone who will listen. We are pushing to make this a state-wide, then national, and finally international thing.

So, if you are reading this you will get or have gotten an email from me, Brent or Patrick. We are asking, especially if you enjoy it, to pass this on to your friends, co-workers, families members and anyone else that would listen.

We are also pushing our CD release shows heavy as well. We are wanting to pack out both venues. First on February 21st at The Pour House in Raleigh and then March 7th at The Evening Muse in Charlotte.

So listen, enjoy, and pass own. That is going to be my encouragement to everyone who reads this.

Thanks again for reading and please try and make it out to at least one of the CD release parties.

<img width='1' height='1' wanted to chime in on Silver's new CD and let those who do not follow the previous mentioned blogs about it.

The new Silver CD, that we are calling "Plus Minus," is coming out this February. We are currently in the mastering phase and we are about to send the CD tracks and the artwork to the CD duplicator. All three of us are really stoked about the whole CD and we can't wait to let everyone listen to it. For those select people who have already heard it, we are getting great responses from it. This is very encouraging for us.

We are calling the CD "Plus Minus" because we feel like there are two types of songs on the CD. Not like drastic differences cause we wrote all of the songs. However there are some heavier songs and lighter songs. I do not think that we intended on doing this when we first started writing. It just came out like that and we were excited when we wrote the songs and now we are excited about what was produced.

We currently have two CD release parties, one in Raleigh and one in Charlotte. The one in Raleigh is going to be on February 21st at The Pour House. The one in Charlotte is going to be on March 7th at The Evening Muse. We are glad that we finally have the two shows set and also glad that we have the lineup set for The Pour House show in Raleigh.

We have worked really hard on this CD and hope that all who hear the songs will enjoy them for their own reasons.

You can always check us out at www.silvermusiconline.com if type='text'>Holidays and Music

During this time of year, or rather right before you open presents Christmas morning, your mind can start to wonder. Wonder about what you are getting, wonder about if the Christmas sweater your grandma got you is going to fit or if the presents you got for other people are going to be enjoyed by those people.

Well during this time my mind has done the same thing. I have not been wondering about what I got however. I have been wondering about music.

As many of you know we, Silver, has just finished recording our first CD together. Brent and Pat have recorded one without me but this one is all three of us. So, of course during this season of wondering, I have started to wonder about our music and will it be enjoyed by people around us. I will have to say that I really like the music that we have recorded, but I think that I am a little biased. Of course everyones dream that plays music is for their music to be liked by the masses. My dream is that but so much more. I have always wanted my music to mean something to someone. Whether it is a nice riff that inspires someone to pick up an instrument. Or, whether it is by another avenue that I can help someone. The possibilities are endless.

So I wonder what will come of this music. How can I, or we as Silver, impact someone else's life in a positive way.

This post will probably be more for musicians or bass enthusiast.

So for pretty much the whole time I have been playing bass beside one of my good friends, Aaron Chappell, we have had this little battle. A battle of Fender Bass Guitars. I never liked playing them and he said that they were great bass guitars.

Well over the last few months with it ending this past Monday, I have come to the realization that Fender Basses are really well made and have a great sound if you work with them long enough. The Jazz bass is a really good live bass and has a lot of punch to it and so it is in your face all of the time. The Precision bass, or "P Bass" as some call it, records really well and is really smooth.

This is a very heavy hearted day for me, cause it is like finding out that your favorite baseball player did in fact take steroids and did not just work his ass off to get that big. I was under the impression that Warwick basses are the best and no other bass would even come close. Well that is wrong, Fender basses have become probably one of my favorite basses now.

So, Chapps you won this round, but do not think that you will win the next round.

So, now the only thing to do is figure out how I can get one for cheap or sell mine so that I can get a Fender Jazz Bass.

In the studio

So, this morning I woke up, ate a bowl of cereal, grabbed the four basses I had in the apartment, only one of them actually being mine, and headed off to meet Patrick and Brent at Patrick's house. We met and headed off to Warrior Sound studios in Chapel Hill.

This is very exciting for me, cause music has always been a big passion of mine. I have been in several bands in the past. I am currently in Silver and I play at my church, Visio Dei. Along with them two I have played for Shelly Moore, and another church, Summit Church.

So, being in the studio and recording an album with two guys that I really enjoy playing music with is awesome. My wife is excited as well cause she knows that this is something that I hope to do as a career one day.

We are currently tracking the first song on drums right now. It is already giving me chills, it is freaking awesome.

Stay tuned for more about my experience and hopefully some pics as well while we are in the studio with Al from Warrior Sound.

J

<img width='1' It has been an extremely busy time for me and my wife. Of course, getting ready for the upcoming holidays and trying to figure out how we can see both families.

The other big thing is trying to get all of the work finished that needs to be completed before Christmas. The guy that I am helping remodel some houses, have sold two of them and rented one of them. So we are in a hurry to finish those houses as soon as possible (or faster than we would want to). Many of you know that I am working as an electrician on the 6 Oakwood Shotgun House remodels, working for an old friend of mine. However, through good quotes, I have recently won 4 fence projects, another electrical project and also a big General Contracting job. There has been a lot of work done and planned in the recent couple of weeks.

However I am looking forward to the holiday season. For many reasons, the main one being this was the time that my savior was born, this is always a great time and I can never tired of hearing the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Call me a kid with that story, but I am. However the other reasons are the fact that I can buy gifts for people that I care about and they don't tell me, "you shouldn't have." I like this season because I make an extra effort to slow down, to hang out with friends more and to talk to my extended family more.

So, with the extremely busy and fast life I have right now. I am looking forward to the next month or so, cause of the effort that I make to slow down and make sure I understand what is the true meaning of the season.

What?

Do sometimes when you wake up do you feel like this is going to be a weird day? Today has been that day to me.

I first woke up this morning at 5:45 because on Wednesdays I meet with two guys for journey group, a smaller group that meets to test, build and support one another. This group is through Visio Dei, the church community we are apart of.

Well the meeting was good, we mainly just hung out like we do sometimes just to catch up with one another. I then went to Lowes', this is also a weekly, almost daily occurrence. When I went there I had a plan, but when I got in, I forgot the plan. So I had to make one up, luckily I remembered what I was going to do today.

Next I went back to my apartment to change my clothes, cause I work at a construction site and I do not like wearing my work clothes to breakfast. I just felt weird when I got back. My wife was getting ready for work and everything between us is good, but there was just something that I felt that made it weird.

I then spent the next 8-9 hours working beside a guy who really hated his job and proceeded to tell me, I think, every half-hour. I, on the other hand, like my job cause I work for myself. None the less work was horrible cause of that guy.

Next my wife and I went to home-group in which we had a healthy discussion on faith. Maybe this is what has gotten me in a weird mood, cause I deal with several faith issues. Not that I do not have faith that what The Lord has in store for me, but the faith that I will make the right decision and that of how much to question. I think in a natural, intelligent, truth seeking world we always question. We always want to know more. Know how this works, know how this is going to happen, know why something or someone is the way they are. We are naturally curious. Well, I think I have come to the point where I only want to question what is valid. How will I know the difference, I HAVE NO IDEA. Any thoughts? Please I could use another opinion.

I sent two emails to four different people (one email per two people). Two very different emails both seeking some kind of reassurance. The people who have received these emails may laugh, be freaked out or whatever. But, I sent them anyway. Maybe this is my attempt at trying to figure out what I should and should not question.

So, to those four people I write this. Sorry if the email freaks you out, I am just looking for some help.

MUSIC ANYONE?

New post tomorrow, Music.

So it is a day behind. Tonight my brother, my dad and I went to our yearly concert outing. Once again we went to The Allman Brothers Band concert at Walnut Creek. It was once again a great show, we had a blast. The Brothers were awesome.

That brings me to my post. My post is about the way I see the music going. I am kind of excited about the path that music is going down now. I am first going to apologize if this hurts people's feelings, but the simple guitar playing and just playing bar chords for the entirety of a song is stupid. The people who signed those bands put American music back about 10 years when they did that.

Now I understand I wish we could have skipped disco as well, but at least they had sort of flashy clothes. But in the 90's when most of the bands were playing music that the guitarist just knew how to play bar chords and nothing else was stupid. However, as I was saying, the music has seemed to take a turn. Everyone across the board is starting to experiment and trying new things. Implementing new sounds, different instruments and just making music enjoyable again.

I feel like we are taking steps forward towards a better musical society.

Prayer

Some of you know that I, like my good friend Patricio Downing, is currently without a "full-time" job. Stressful in a time where there are a lot of people without jobs in our area? Yes it is! Are we panicking? No we are not! We are not panicking cause we both feel like there is a reason and a "plan" for what we are supposed to be doing.

Keeping my options open I am trying to pray everyday for guidance or a path to follow. I know that people very often will get written off for saying, "I am just going to pray about it and let The Lord take care of everything else." I for one am not like that. I like to take advantage of the opportunity that The Lord has given me and also in the same sense pray about more possibilities. I fell like praying can do but so much! Before some people start to criticize me for what I am saying, hear me out.

I feel like The Lord has given us free will to choose what we want, that I feel is the whole basis behind why God allows certain things to happen to people. Does God want those things to happen? No. Could God stop those things from happening? In a millisecond. Because our world is inherently evil and we are broken people. We have to choose the path that lies before us. For me in my case. I, with a passion, am pursuing two different careers at the same time.

First being my contracting company. (Warning to all, shameless plug approaching. I need more and more work, I can do a lot of things concerning building or designing. If you know of anyone that needs work done, please email me at john.enzor@gmail.com.) I have big ideas for the company that my wife and I are forming. Global things.

The second passion is music. I am currently in a band, Silver. We are currently not performing so that we can write new songs and record them hopefully in December. I love playing music with the two guys that I am in Silver with and would hope that this is the "plan" The Lord has for my life in the near future. I also play at Visio Dei, and The Summit Church and also with a good group called The Shelly Moore Band. This is a passion in my life that I also have big ideas for. Global things.

With both of these things the only thing I can do to make sense and make sure that my own desires are not the driving forces behind them, is to Pray. I ask God to open and close doors everyday. Some days are more clear than others. However the one thing I am not doing after I pray is sit on my tail and wait. I know that I am going to make some bad choices and I know that I am only human and the path is not going to be as clear or easy. But I trust that through prayer the mistakes are kept to a minimum.

Sorry for the long post, I had a good Journey Group meeting this morning and wanted to share with you all.

Head Hurt?

So, today I woke up like any other day and was getting ready for work. Thinking about how I could make myself, since I am the whole company, more efficient. So I was sitting down on the coach and my wife had just left, the side of my head starting hurting. Which this reminds me of a joke that my dad always says when I tell him my head is hurting, "Is your face hurting, hurts me to look at it" loving dad huh? Anyway, back to today. My head starting hurting and when I was about to get up it just felt like someone had hit me in the side of the head with a hammer, and yes I know how that feels. Well this was a migraine coming on, I took some medicine and feel asleep for a few hours and woke up in the early afternoon. Needless to say I was not very efficient today at work.

This brought me to a thought tonight of how frail life is and how our "plans" sometimes do not work out. A good friend of mine, which most of you will know who is reading this, a few weeks back was getting ready for his twins to be born. Going through all of the motions; painting the nursery, going to birthing classes, going to baby showers, all of that stuff. Then after a routine exam the doctor tells him that his wife is going into labor at like 27 weeks. Well this story has a good ending and the babies and parents are doing well. I just have realized that our plans are never our plans. We even should stop asking people what their plans are and start asking them, "what do you hope to do in the near future?" Cause you never know what may happen. Now some people may look at this blog and think that I am depressed and I have not hope in life. In fact it is the exact opposite, I have great hope in life and I am not depressed. I have hope that what ever happens it is my Lord's will for my life. I have the comfort knowing that I have a great family, awesome friends and the most beautiful, caring, funny, and supportive wife anyone could ask for.

So just remember that life is frail but fulfilling if you let it be, that plans are just a suggestion what you hope to do, and most of all if you find love in something or someone make sure you cherish it cause it could be gone in a second.

Balance of Life and Work

This is my first blog so forgive me if at some point I start to ramble.

There are times when I look around at the friends that I have, and don't get me wrong I love each and everyone of my friends. But I wonder sometimes is this fast pace life that we lead the one that The Lord has laid out for us. Everyone talks about The Lord wants us to do this and that, but don't you think sometimes he just wants us to sit and relax.

I enjoy the times where my wife and I just lay on the couch watching a movie. I enjoy the times where I can go with a buddy to a building that he built and just be amazed that a man named FISH can build such a great building. I love the times at the lake with two close friends, sometimes more, where we can just sit and talk about what is going on and hear the waves crash from a passing boat.

Of course, as I am writing this, I am thinking about the million things I need to do at work, the songs that we are playing this weekend in leading worship at Visio Dei, the upcoming NC STATE football game, and the fact that I need to wash up after a softball game. Further more, while I am thinking about all of the "stuff" that fills my day, my beautiful wife is in the bed asleep and I have not joined her because I cannot calm down my brain enough in order to lay still and not wake her every second.

I will finish up with a question, can we truly honor The Lord with our lives, when we are going so fast and doing so much that we barely have time to breath?
